The film Gran Torino is the fracture of self-importance, focusing on the individuals in a community and the things that tie up them. It is the distinction between selflessness and selfishness; it is the transformation of a soul and a community to push through the barrier of self and to move outside of yourself.

This film contrasts altruism to egocentricity, in that the lowly characters in the film demonstrate the concept of egotistical self-centeredness. iodine such minor character is the gang of black kids who cut off on Sue and her phony bloke while they atomic number 18 out on there date. These kids only speak up of themselves as they roughneck and put down Sue and her boyfriend, as they try to glorify themselves. The fact that this gang is purely a bunch of intolerant ingrates that think too much of themselves is shown by their actions. Thao and sues grandmother is other character that fails to consider others. She shows she doesnt have respect when she insults Walt in her own spoken language. She is afraid of Walt this is shown by saying it in her language and its even greater disrespect because he wont understand it.



She also compares him to a rooster and says hes the only white guy left in the neighborhood. some other group of characters that exhibit these characteristics is Walts son Mitch, and Mitchs married woman and kids. All of them are completely self centered and the married woman only cares about Walts wifes jewelry, and Walts granddaughter only cares about his Gran Torino and his couch. There lack of fear shows that his family doesnt actually care about him they are in fact entirely materialistic people who just requisite things from him. The last group is the Humong gang who are the main antagonists end-to-end the film.
