In Faulkners story, A Rose for Emily, the main character, Miss Emily, acted out irrationally when her lover, Homer, rejected her. All her life Emily was not able to cook a chance with any suitors because her father always pushed them away. When she got older she began to loose her beauty and she felt she would never get matrimonial except then she met Homer, â¦a Yankeeâ"a big, dark, organize man, with a big voice and eyes lighter than his bet (Faulkner). Emily instantly fell in love. She eventide bought him a smooth-spoken toilet set with his initials on it to almost buy his love, but as time passed they had still not married.
Once Emily show out that Homer was not the marrying type, she went out and killed him so he would always belong to her, The body had apparently once lain in the attitude of an embrace, but now the long sleep that outlasts love, that conquers even the grimace of love, had cuckolded him (Faulkner) as the narrator states.
