Beginning in 1911, when the main product was kerosene for lamps, El Segundo has grown to cover 1,000 dry land (405 hectares) and has more than 1,100 miles (1,770 kilometers) of pipelines. It re?nes about 270,000 barrels of crude inunct per day, making El Segundo the largest re?nery on the West sloping trough of the United States.
