In 2001 Bernard Goldberg released his book Bias A CBS Insider Exposes How the Media Distort the News. In it Goldberg voices his accounts at CBS where he worked as a reporter and a producer for nearly thirty years. He discusses how expectant preconception influences the mainstream media. He tells us how he comes to this opinion and how he try to bring this to the attention of the network executives. When he comes to the conclusion that no one will listen or do boththing somewhat the problem he decides to blow the whistle on his run through in company and the mainstream press in a Wall alley Journal piece. I chose this topic because I thought that liberal bias in the mainstream media existed but never really did any research. After much research I found that this spotlight of liberal bias in the word is much worsened than I had thought.
Lets start out with the definition of bias. The American hereditary pattern College dictionary says that bias is a preference or an inclination, specially one that inhibits impartial judgment or to influence in a particular, typically un seemly direction; prejudice. Now lets take a look at journalism. I went to the Society of overlord Journalists web site at https://www.spj.org/ethics_code.asp, to see what I could find. What I found is very clear and easy to understand.



Lets look at a quote from the ethics code introduce it says The transaction of the journalists is to further those ends by seeking truth and providing a clean-living and comprehensive account of events and issues. The first thing that it says after the preamble is Seek Truth and Report It and below that it says Journalists should be honest, fair and courageous in gathering, reporting and interpreting information. We also jockey that journalism and the news is an important to us and the world and that the news can influence meaningful decision making on our most important issues social and political.
