Hero Essay
The exposition of a hero is an indefinite these days. From the brave and strong Odysseus, to Lassie, to the multi-colored anthologies produced by Marvel Comics and Stan Lee, the idea of a hero is something that changes with the latest fads and fashions. only to me, a hero has always had the same make and model. They are, by no means perfect, but strive to be. They have an unyielding need to frame the better person they think they should be. They dont require tragic pasts, but have set about obstacles and have over come them, learning something from the experience as well. They remain optimistic in times of trial, if not for themselves, pastce for their companions. They never unfeignedly, even after their glorious victories, understand how truly heroic they are. They live with a sense of humility that drives us mad. They are kind and caring to their companions, but are puke when the situation calls for a leader. But most of all, they are allegiant to the very marrow of there bones. This is vision of a hero.
Tolkien gave his gentlemans gentleman of Middle Earth a hero in Aragorn. We concern him under a pretense. We see him as the mysterious and, mayhap even untrustworthy, Strider, the Ranger from the north.
We see his heroic nature acquire to emerge in his grand efforts to save Frodo from the Ringwraiths toxicant blade. When the journey takes the reader to Rivendell is when we learn the truth about our untrustworthy ranger. Aragorn is born of a
King, but his father dies in battle. Aragorn is then brought to a safe haven where his birthright is hidden from him until a proper time. He has inherited the mantle of power and apprehension from his distinguished ancestors, along with the right to the throne of Gondor. Over the communication channel of the trilogy we see Aragorn truly fall into his hero role.
